Hello 👋
We’re TACT — the Tactile Interaction Lab
We explore how touch can become a natural and expressive part of human–computer interaction.
TACT stands not only for Tactile Interaction, but also for “tact” itself — sensitivity, awareness, and consideration — and for touch, the most direct and tangible way humans connect with the world.
Among all senses, touch offers a uniquely intimate and embodied way to connect—with technology, with the world, and with each other. At the intersection of HCI and haptics, we design tactile technologies that feel seamless: integrated into the body, the environment, and the rhythms of everyday life.
Inspired by ubiquitous computing pioneer Mark Weiser’s vision of Disappearing Computers, we ask: how can haptics remain perceptually present, even as computing itself fades into the background? This question drives us to design interactions that are not only technically innovative but also deeply human.
Our work calls for both technical creativity and interdisciplinary insight. We combine knowledge from perception and cognition with hands-on skills in hardware prototyping and software development. Students in our team come from diverse backgrounds—Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and beyond—each contributing unique perspectives to our collaborative research.
At TACT Lab, we believe that meaningful technology emerges from a balance of rigor and empathy — technology that not only functions, but resonates with the texture of human life.
